Single leaf, with single column of 16 lines in a squat and rounded early gothic hand, rubrics in red, small initials in liquid gold with contrasting penwork, two 2-line initials in beige with coloured foliage on burnished gold grounds, these extending into decorative coloured foliate borders on two sides with spiky edged gold grounds and bezants, these supporting four running hounds in the bas-de-page who chase a stag as he turns his head back to look at his pursuers, a chaffinch-like bird and a hare seated in the lower right corner, some small scuffs and spots, outer edges trimmed with significant losses only to lower border, 117 by 88 mm. (written space: 78 by 55 mm.)

Single leaf, with a large initial I (opening Ipse tibi … ) and enclosing a three-quarter length figure of a finely painted clean-shaven man facing right, nude apart from a thin chiffon-like robe which hangs over his shoulders, his delicate musculature drawn out in blue-grey tones, one hand tucked beneath his robe and another gesturing upwards, the lower part of his legs wrapped in a blue cloth edged in white, all on burnished gold grounds with liquid gold penwork, multi-coloured acanthus leaf fronds extending into the margins, 2 further coloured initials enclosing men s heads (the first wearing red robes, the second in a red coif) both with same decoration as above, 3 further multi-coloured initials on gold grounds with liquid gold penwork (one kaleidoscopic in its complex makeup), a single red one-line initial with contrasting penwork, rubrics in red, calligraphic capitals with hairline penwork tracery, double column, 25 lines of 2 sizes of a refined Italian bookhand, inscription in French in nineteenth- or possibly early twentieth-century pencil at foot of recto, some areas of text with ink weakened by flaking away, very slightly trimmed at top with small affect to topmost acanthus leaf tendril, small amount of discolouration and cockling (mostly at edges) and marks at upper corners from old framing, else in good condition with wide margins, 362 by 238mm

Size of leaf: 177mm. by 131mm. 15 lines in an excellent early Gothic bookhand, text enclosed on three sides within thin gold and coloured bars, from which sprout swirls of rinceaux terminating in red, blue and gold leaves entirely filling all borders, water damaged in flood in August 1846; foliated in pencil '153' (text faded on verso)

Arched miniature (95 x 57mm.) in which Christ is seated on a rainbow, draped in pink and green robes, and looks down at the Virgin and John the Baptist who pray for the salvation of man; at the top, two angels blow on long trumpets to awake the dead who emerge from their graves. The miniature surrounded by a full border of coloured intertwining branches terminating in acanthus, coloured flowers and gold leaves on hair-line stems.

Gregory, the papal saint, kneels celebrating Mass with an attendant as the naked figure of Christ appears to him on the altar surrounded by the Instruments of the Passion.

Single leaf, with single column, 17 lines in a squat and rounded early gothic hand (opening the Hours of the Holy Cross), capitals touched in red, rubrics in red, small initials in red or liquid gold with contrasting penwork, one 2-line initials in pale pink on burnished gold ground, one very large initial in coloured interlacing bands enclosing four swirls of ivy leaf foliage on gold and blue grounds, extending at its corners into decorative coloured foliate borders on spiky edged gold grounds and bezants, these enclosing entire text and supporting the figures named above as well as two small birds, similar border without figures and animals on three sides on verso, some small scuffs and spots, outer edges trimmed with significant losses only to lower border, 117 by 90 mm.
