Luxurious exhibition binding by Zaehnsdorf in full brown goatskin, upper and lower boards decorated with a dotted gilt border containing a pattern of hearts on long stems spraying from all four corners all within a wavy border of curved rules, within which is a wide dentelle-style border of open seedpods and hearts on long stems with small dotted areas at each corner outlined with curved rules and with a spray of four open seedpods in each, spine lettered in gilt, with foliate pattern of open seedpods and hearts on stems with dotted areas at head and tail; brown goatskin doublures with open seedpod and solid heart sprays within double gilt rules and brown goatskin end-leaves with double gilt rules; Zaehnsdorf bindery stamp at tail of front pastedown and with their exhibition stamp and foot of final endpaper; quarter black goatskin and brown cloth drop back box. Fine, faint spotting to half-title and preliminary leaves, corners of boards and spine very slightly rubbed, two small spots of soiling on upper cover. Small booklabel of M.C.D. Borden.
