Original blue cloth, backs faded to green, and a little stained, with a small ownership inscription on the title to the first volume dated November 1836, sporadic foxing, but a generally fairly clean copy. xii, 113-285; viii, 9-279, 8pp ads.  Philadelphia, Carey et al.

Compiled with his nephew's help from the journals of: Robert Stuart, Wilson Price Hunt, and Ramsay Crooks, amongst others. John Jacob Astor was Washington Irving's patron, and as such, he undertook this commission to describe his endeavours.
