Second edition. Text in Greenlandic and Danish. 16mo. Quarter calf over mottled paper covered boards. Lightly foxed, with the corner of the front free endpaper clipped. Else very good. 87pp. Copenhagen, Karl Friderich Schubart,

Otto Fabricius was a Danish missionary, trained under Paul Egede at the Seminarium Groenlandicum in Copenhagen. He was dispatched the Greenland in 1768 for five years, and whilst there, alongside gaining fluency in the language, he amassed the specimen collection which became the basis of his 1780 work Fauna Groenlandica

The present work's title translates as "Materials for rules for priests and teachers, how bearing themselves they shall act at the time for church going, the Greenlanders in their country." It is the second edition, after the first of 1783, the translation of which is attributed to Paul Egede, and has the variant title Ajokærsoirsun Atuagekseit Nalegbingue Gröndlandme... In 1818 Fabricius succeeded Egede as the leader of the Seminarium Groenlandicum, and presumably this revised edition was an early initiative in that new role. These religious manuals were printed in Copenhagen for export to and distribution in the Greenland missions, and as such are scarce survivors on the market.
