A triptyche showing scenes from Alaska around the turn of the century. The images depict central Alaska at the time, a salmon cannery, the landing of the Governor of Alaska, and of Metlakatla being cleared of trees.

 

The Graphic was a weekly British illustrated newspaper founded by artist, wood engraver and social reformer William Luston Thomas. A successful rival to the Illustrated London NewsThe Graphic was run by artists and strove to better remunerate and represent their work. Founded in 1869, it reported stories from all corners of the British Empire.
