This is one of the two editions of Voltaire's acerbic attack on contemporary taste in art and literature which Bengesco speaks of as "premières éditions". The earliest editions are without privilege (the first, in Rouen by Jore in 1733), while the editions published later in 1733, like this one, with Voltaire's name on the title-page were printed in Holland, and with Crébillon's approbation dated 21 April 1733 at the end.

Occasional minor foxing.

Bengesco, n.602, p.162.
