Dictograph Poultry Farm took its curious name from the other venture of its proprietor, Kelly Monroe Turner, the president of General Acoustics Company. In this capacity he patented a remote listening device which, through the use of a large diaphragm called a 'metronome', was able to pick up distant conversations and was essentially the first effective eavesdropping machine. To avoid possible abuses, Turner conscientiously leased the units to reputable detective agencies, and it was used in a series of landmark convictions based on clandestinely recorded confessions in prison cells, hotel rooms et al. His West Nyack farm specialised in rare breeds, and this advertisement card promotes the French 'White Faverolle'. True to its assertion of "STOP BUYING MEAT", the faverolle has become famed for its suitability as a layer as well as a table bird. Other observations on the breed are their extreme docility, even to the point that they tend to be bullied in mixed flocks due to their gentle disposition, and their somewhat gassiness.
