The death of Robert Falcon Scott (1868-1912) and the entire polar party was a cause for national mourning and much ephemera, such as this item here, was published to commemorate it. On the verso of the card is a list of the important dates of the 1911-12 expedition, commencing with departure from Hut Point on November 2, followed by the attainment of the pole on January 18 the next year, then the deaths of Evans, Oates and Scott, Wilson and Bowers.
