Londini Angliæ Regni Metropolis delineatio accuratissima Per Petrum vander Aa.

RAM Johannes de ([1729])

£3000.00

Copperplate engraving, 495 x 584 mm. Old folds, as issued, a very good example, a good dark impression, with wide margins. Leiden : Pieter van der Aa, [1729]

Very scarce plan of London drawn and engraved at the time of the Glorious Revolution, when the (Catholic) Stuart family were supplanted by the (Dutch Protestant) William of Orange and his wife Mary Stuart, ruling as William and Mary. Their accession generated great interest in Holland, hence the publication of this map.

This is a later printing, with the inset of Westwood House, seat of the Pakington family, famous for the hospitality offered to supporters of William of Orange.
