1st edition. With 29 half-tone plates, a large folding map of Central Arabia (Riyadh) and a single page plan of Buraida. With 14 diagrammatic figures in the text by H.A.R. ("Kim") Philby, (then a King's Scholar of Westminster School). A little sporadic light foxing. Original green cloth boards. Slightly worn, back a little creased. 8vo. xv,422pp. Constable, London.
In his preface Philby writes "This volume continues and completes the record of my sojourn in Arabia during the years 1917 and 1918. In effect, therefore, it forms a third volume of The Heart of Arabia". Accordingly, it continues the narrative of Philby's diplomatic mission in Arabia (which was aimed at intercourse with Ibn Saud) until its termination in October 1918. The mission ended due to a difference of opinion between Philby and the British Government, over whether or not Ibn Saud should attack Ibn Rashid in Hail. Unsurprisingly, Arabia of the Wahhabis presents Philby's side of the argument and his reasons for advocating the attack.
