A rare book writtten by the expedition's naturalist and medical officer. This copy contains an extra map that is neither called for in the list of contents nor mentioned in the cartographic appendix. Compiled and printed two years earlier than the rest of the work, by Robert Gordon who was sent to join the expedition with extra cash, it nevertheless may still have been intended for inclusion in the work because the pocket is large enough to contain its substantial bulk. Anderson later published his natural history reports, this volume contains an excellent history of this part of upper Burma, together with the historical section.
