A Handbook of Mesopotamia. Vol. I.

Second Edition. Vol. 1 (of 4). 8vo. Original black cloth, extremities mildly worn, stamped "I.D. III8 A" in gilt on the upper board. Endpaper attaching upper board to bookblock torn, otherwise copy is firm and intact. 556 pp. Naval Staff, Intelligence Division, November,

From the 'Note' on p.[5]: "Mesopotamia is treated in four volumes. This first introductory volume contains matter of a general nature ... This volume gives an account of conditions in Mesopotamia for the most part as they were before the war. While some recent developments have been mentioned, most of the changes that have taken place in the country since 1914 have not been described."

A very rare book from a series that are never offered as a full set. Copac lists 4 copies of vol. 1 at Oxford, Glasgow, the British Library and the British Museum. Only Glasgow and the BL hold all four volumes and therefore the complete 2nd edition of the handbook.
