A survey of the economic life of Ponta Delgada with sections and statistics on printing, including print runs of local newspapers, booksellers, and binders (pp.22-24). The 'Typografias' discussed are: 'do Visconde', 'de Macedo', 'do Correio Michaelense' and 'da Sociedade Auxiliadora das Lettras Açorianas'.

The section on booksellers translates thus: "booksellers properly speaking don't exist in Ponta Delgada, but there are three establishments which sell various elementary books and novels, or get various publications sent from the capital. The owner of one of these establishments has some interest in making blank books which he sells to accountants and shopkeepers; but does not employ any workers."
