J.J.G. Alexander has written the introduction with great detail on the life and works, as well as descriptions of the manuscript and the plates. Clive Wainwright has written a fine piece on the binding and Nicolas Barker has provided a note on the script of the Lectionary. There is a foreword by Sir Simon Towneley who commissioned this Roxburghe Club book.
