Edited by G.E. M. Anscombe and G. H. von Wright. Translated by G. E. M. Anscombe. First edition. 8vo. v [+ ve], 124 [+ 124e] pp., with parallel German and English text. Original dark grey cloth, spine lettered in gilt, dust jacket (internally clean and unmarked; spine panel of jacket faintly toned, small area of faint residue to front turn-in fold from old price sticker, spine panel faintly toned, otherwise an excellent copy). Oxford, Basil Blackwell.

A collection of previously unpublished remarks and short meditations from across Wittgenstein's career, who collected paper clippings of his work, sometimes from copies of transcripts that no longer survive. He did not, however, 'merely keep these fragments, but worked on them, altered and polished them in their cut-up condition' (preface), indicating perhaps that they were part of a larger future project that was never completed.
