WITH AN AUTOGRAPH SLIP SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR

First edition. 8vo. xiii, [1], 412 pp. Original black cloth, spine lettered and ruled in gilt, dust jacket (light wear to extremities, spine panel slightly faded, notwithstanding a very good copy indeed). London, Routledge and Kegan Paul.

With an autograph slip signed by the author loosely inserted. Not identified as such, but from the estate Melitta Mew (1929-2018), who served as Popper's personal secretary from 1982 and the executor of Popper's estate following his death in 1994.

Perhaps Popper's most wide-ranging and popular work, gathering together his articles and lectures to chart the growth of scientific understanding, and its influence on history and thought. "The essays and lectures of which this book composed are variations upon one very simple theme - the thesis that we can learn from our mistakes" (preface). Popper dedicated the work to Friedrich von Hayek.
