Tenth 'unaltered' edition. 8vo. xi, [1], 437, [1] pp. Original brown cloth, spine lettered and ruled in gilt, dust jacket. A near fine copy. Tübingen, Max Niemeyer Verlag.

Signed by the author in black ink to the front free endpaper. From the library of the German philosopher Severin Müller, with his neat contemporary ownership inscription to front free endpaper, elegant monograph stamp to title page, and copious pencilled marginal annotations and underlinings in red and blue ink throughout. With a postcard bearing a black and white photographic portrait of Heidegger loosely inserted.

A later edition of Heidegger's Being and Time, arguably the most important work of philosophy of the twentieth century, originally published in 1927 as part of Husserl's Jahrbuch für Phänomenologie und phänomenologische Forschung. Heidegger originally intended Being and Time to consist of two major parts, each consisting of three separate divisions. However, he was forced to prepare the manuscript for publication when he had completed only the first two divisions of part one. The remaining divisions were never published, although their intended content largely formed the trajectory of Heidegger's later works.
