The first appearance Hayek's lecture on Bernard de Mandeville, delivered to the British Academy on March 23rd, 1966, in which Hayek presented Mandeville as a coherent social think who anticipated and enabled large aspects of the Scottish Enlightenment, including Hume's philosophy of man and society.
