A collection of three essays based on the second series of John Dewey Lectures delivered by Ayer at Columbia University in 1970. The title essay, Probability and Evidence, is formed of three parts: 'The Legacy of Hume', 'Apriori Probability and the Frequency Theory' and 'The Problem of Confirmation'. The collection also includes two additional papers, titled 'Has Harrod Answer Hume?' and 'The Problem of Conditionals'. 

Fore edges of dust jacket with faint creasing and minor staining, otherwise a very good copy.
