This copy inscribed on the half-title, "James Hunks Esqre. with the author's compliments, February 17th 1885." Ludlow raised the 8th Battalion Warwickshire Regiment in 1908, commanded 184th Infantry Brigade, 1915-6, Area Commandant, British Expeditionary Force, Flanders, 1917-1918.
