First edition. 8vo., original green cloth, dust jacket. London, Secker & Warburg.
Surprisingly scarce in the dust jacket. A near fine copy in a price-clipped dust jacket of Mann's bitter polemic against the Nazis. In the First World War Mann had been a proud patriot, even defending the sinking of the Lusitania, but changed his views on German militarism when confronted by the barbarous policies of Hitler's Government. Here he makes an impassioned plea for upholding civilized values, and calls for a federal State of Europe.
