KEYNES John Maynard (1940.)

£175.00  [First Edition]

Available to view at our Curzon Street shop.

The need for full employment in a war-time economy.

First edition, second impression. 8vo. vii, [1], 88 pp. Original orange card boards, spine and front cover printed in black (boards faded to brown, some light wear and creasing to spine, otherwise a very good copy indeed). London, Macmillan and Co., Limited.

Keynes's most successful 'essay in persuasion’, a microcosm of his wider economics, emphasising in particular the need for full employment in a war-time economy. Shortly after its publication, Keynes accepted an appointment to a consultative council to the chancellor (ODNB).

The corrected version, less common than the earlier uncorrected version in green card boards, of Keynes's most successful essay in persuasion, the application of his General Theory to wartime economy. The uncorrected version was published a few months previously.
