£100.00 [First Edition]
Available to view at our Curzon Street shop.
First edition. 8vo., original blue cloth, dust jacket. London, Victor Gollancz.
Inscribed by the author: "For temporary comrade Ivor, from V". Ivor may well be Ivor Jennings, an academic lawyer who, after being evacuated at Dunkirk, went to Ceylon, where he was the first vice-chancellor of the University of Ceylon, and played an important role in preparing the people for possible attack by Japan. Gollancz published him in the 1930s. Spine faded, rust staining and a small hole to the front flap from a staple, closed tear to the head of the spine, rust staining to front pastedown, otherwise a very good copy.
