Dr No.

FLEMING Ian (1958.)

£2250.00  [First Edition]

First edition, first state. 8vo. Original cloth, without the "Honeychile" design to front board, spine lettered in silver, dust jacket designed by Pat Marriott. London, Jonathan Cape.

The sixth Bond novel, and the first to be made into a feature film. Kingsley Amis, a keen student of the Bond novels, praised this book for 'its unrelaxed tension, its terrifying house of evil, and the savage beauty of its main setting on a Caribbean island, a locale which Fleming made a part of himself and which always excited his pen to produce some of his best writing'.

Gilbert's first state, binding A, without the "Honeychile" design on the front cover.

A very good copy, with some rubbing to top of dust jacket spine and corners, especially to the back cover. Dust jacket spine also a little darkened. Front board has some dark staining.
