An attractive copy, with some skilful early restoration in which the endpapers appear to have been replaced and a short split at the headcap has been repaired. There is a vertical crease to the binding and the usual foxing to the plates, but on the whole an attractive copy. The book edition was bound from the monthly parts, and this copy shows all the signs of early printings of the parts, with the Chapman and Hall imprints on the frontispiece and first four plates.
