The earliest book to present and discuss Kant's philosophy in English. F.A. Nitsch (1767-1813) was born in East Prussia. He studied philosophy at Königsberg, and then for several years taught mathematics and Latin at the Collegium Fridericianum there. In 1793, he moved to London and began to write articles and give lessons on Kantian philosophy, with Kant's approval and encouragement. This book of Nitch's is an important milestone in the early reception of Kant outside Germany, introducing terms such as the Categorical Imperative into the English language.
