Terry invites her niece to dine and see a play with her that same evening. On arriving at Olive's house and finding her niece out Marion Terry writes this hasty note to be sent on to her at the New Century Club, a Ladies Club of which Olive was likely a member ("King says you have gone to the Club am sending this there").

"So sorry to find you out!!! As I wanted you to come and dine and go to a theatre with me..." Having heard that Olive was due to be "dining with aunt A" Marion informs her that she "went there and have begged you off!", adding, "shall expect you here 6.45 sharp.."

Marion Terry, sister of Ellen, Kate and Florence Terry, had a stage career that spanned over fifty years, she played the leading role in more than 125 plays.

Olive Terry made her first appearance on stage in her native London in February 1906, as Lady Gerania in Dr Wake's Patient, in which she subsequently toured. In 1906 she appeared in Arthur Bourchier's production of Macbeth at the Garrick. Later London appearances were as Lily in In the Workhouse (1911), Sister Christina in The Month of Mary (1913), and Spring in Godefroi and Yolande (1915).
