Nachbauer arrived in Peking in 1916 and set up a publishing business. Amongst his publications in the early years were a number of small books recording his own observations of life in Peking. The title 'Pekinades' is a play on the the French word denoting a 'richly decorated fabric' and Peking. These titles are printed on inferior paper and are very rare. Only two copies in OCLC.
