First edition. 12mo (measuring 11,8x16cm). Decorative initials at the start of each chapter and several illustrations in the text. Original decorated flexible boards. Light browning due to poor paper quality, but overall still a very good copy. Old ownership inscription on cover. [ii], 170, [ii]pp. Peking, Albert Nachbaur, 

Nachbauer arrived in Peking in 1916 and set up a publishing business. Amongst his publications in the early years were a number of small books recording his own observations of life in Peking. The title 'Pekinades' is a play on the the French word denoting a 'richly decorated fabric' and Peking. These titles are printed on inferior paper and are very rare. Only two copies in OCLC.
