Tamamura Kosaburo (1856-1923?) was a noted Japanese photographer who first opened a portrait studio in Asakusa, Tokyo in 1874. Nine years later he moved to Yokohama where he sold souvenir collotype photo albums to tourists. In around 1903 he also opened a branch in Kobe where a range of panoramic albums were published. The present album does not have a colophon page, but there is no evidence of one being removed. It features an attractive selection of classic tourist scenes of Japan, which stand out for their panoramic format.
