First edition. Numerous photographic plates. Japanese text. 4to. Original flexible boards in dustwrapper (Lacking obi), overall a very good copy. 117pp. Tokyo, Asahi Shimbunsha,
Akiyama Ryoji was born in Narakawa (Nagano Pref.) in 1942. After graduating from the Department of Literature at Waseda University he joined the AP News Agency, and subsequently became a freelance worker for Asahi Shimbun. Akiyama was surprised to find a sensitivity in the village that seemed to have disappeared in Tokyo. And while many of the images are formal (posed) portraits they show the warmth and health of village life. Only one copy in OCLC.
