4 volumes. 4to., engraved portrait and 46 plates after Cipriami, Moreaud le jeune, Eisen, Cochin, Monnet, and Gruize. Engraved by Bartolozzi, Duclos, Ponce etc. Some off-setting from the plates onto the text. Contemporary straight-grained red morocco, spines ruled and lettered in gilt, top edge gilt, yellow fore and lower edges (a few scratches to the covers and with the spines slightly darkened).

A very handsome set of Ariosto's great Italian epic poem.
Gaskell notes that the same setting of the type was also used for an edition in octavo format. Our copy is dated 1773 on the title-page.
