4to (190 x 149). [26]ff. (last leaf blank). Old vellum, later endpapers.

Very rare and apparently only edition of this polemic directed against the views on justification of Andreas Osiander (1498-1552); it is one of the earliest tracts in the so-called "Osiandrische Streit" which exercised for a long time the minds of many Protestants. The author had studied at Ingolstadt, Leipzig and Wittenberg, where he had become an intimate acquaintance of Melanchthon. Ownership inscription at foot of title-page of Georgius Schechnerus, dated 26 June 1554; a few contemporary underlinings. VD16 R3326. Not in BMSTC (German) or Adams.
