Autograph Letter Signed ("G. Burne-Jones") to "Miss Whelpton". 1½ pages 8vo, 6 Pembroke Gardens W., 16 March 1905.

Remembering mutual friends including Miss Whelpton's mother and enquiring if Whelpton knows the whereabouts of a painting "The Three Maries"."I am very glad the Memorials gave you the pleasure of which you [s]peak. I remember your [m]other well as Miss Urling, [. . .] as you know, Dr and Mrs [R]adcliffe were dear friends of [ou]rs for many years. Can you tell me where the [pic]ture of the "Three Maries" [no]w is, which used to be in a drawing room at Cavendish Square[?] & then at Chemiston Gardens? Perhaps it is the one you now have, and if so I should be glad [to] know it". The mother of Miss Whelpton, here recalled fondly by Georgiana, is likely to have been Catherine Anne Urling (1832-1911) who married Revd. Henry Robert Whelpton (1833-1902), with whom she had seven children. As five of these children were female, it is uncertain to which Miss Whelpton Georgiana is writing to.Left edge of paper has been roughly cropped at some point resulting in a marginal loss from the beginning of words, including the 's' at the end of Burne-Jones' surname. There is some paper transferral on the lower reverse portion from where it has been previously been glued, possibly for mounting, resulting in no loss of words.
