Robert Harding

Early British

Robert Harding has worked at Maggs for over 40 years and is a Director of the Early British Department, which handles books before about 1800 relating, in the widest, sense to the British Isles but, as with all departments here, the boundaries are ill-defined and porous. He is responsible for the series of Books & Readers in Early Modern Britain catalogues, has written on the History of Collecting in the 17th Century, and is an expert on, inter alia, the 17th Century etcher Wenceslaus Hollar, for whom he contributed the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography entry. He is a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries, a former Committee member of the Walpole Society, and Chairman of the Savile Club.
