Alice Rowell

Autographs & Modern books

Alice studied English Language and Literature at the University of Leeds, followed by a History of Art Masters at the Courtauld Institute. In both subjects she focused primarily - but not exclusively - on the nineteenth century. Working at a provincial auction house and cataloguing for the Victoria and Albert Museum set her up well for her first assignment at Maggs: tackling an epic and sprawling 70-box family archive. A mammoth task, it was to be the first of many large archives to wing its way to her attic room in no.50. Alice works in the Modern department as a specialist in archives and autograph letters, although she dabbles in books too. She also does the Maggs social media.

Alice ran away to do a ski season in Switzerland once, likes learning French, and is the only member of Maggs to have landed a back flip on skis.
