Hand-coloured soft ground etching with aquatint. Mounted. London, Boydell & Compt. No. 90 Cheapside, April 1, 1809 [but [1819]
An attractively coloured version of the final state of this particular image, bearing the Whatman watermark dated 1819.
It is interesting to note that in this final version of the scene the buffalo driver is now facing forward, having previously been side, whilst the two buffalos immediately to the rear have been reversed, and a further has been added to the left. In addition, there are slight differences to the figures in the hut.
