A.L.s. to "Dear sir" ending "with my best respects to Mrs. M."
Swainson, (W.)
2pp., bit creased, integral blank torn away, Surrey St., Strand, 28 June, 1822
An interesting letter, which provokes because I can't identify the recipient. "I have this day packed up in a box, to go by the canal, 130 copies of my Naturalists Guide: this number, united to 50 sent on the 11th May completes the 200 taken by the Institution...The printed report of the state of the Institution you favoured me with, some months ago, I sent, in the name of the committee, to Sir H. Davy...Our worthy friends Mr. Parkes & his sons are now in London, winding up the last of their unfortunate failure...". Swainson's The naturalist's guide for collecting and preserving all subjects of natural history was first published in 1822
