Concurso Internacional Para La Ereccion De Un Monumento A La Victoria Playa Giron/International Competition For The Erection of a Monument To The Victory of Playa Giron.
SECCION CUBANA DE LA UNION INTERNATIONAL DE, ARQUITECTOS.
7 b&w offset photos. First edition. 4to., unpaginated, 8ll., stapled into the original oversized illustrated white paper wrappers printed in blue yellow and black on the upper portion, titles in reverse white. N.p. [Havana], n.p. [Seccion Cubana De La Union Arquitectos], n.d., c 1962
Edgeworn wrappers, a few pen marks on lower portion of wrapper. Commercially and institutionally very rare with no copies on OCLC.
The wrapper illustration depicts semi-abstract soldiers and a cannon on a Pollockian splodge of yellow, representing Cuba, in a 'sea' of blue.
A provocative and taunting pamphlet masquerading as a 'normal' competition prospectus complete with technical and climactic data. The photos show captured anti-Fidelistas and their weaponry, sunken landing craft and downed. Playa Giron is better known as the Bay of Pigs, the venue for a badly planned and amateurish invasion attempt by Cuban exiles and their comrades in La Causa.
