Printed by Queen's University and issued by The John Malone Memorial Committee. This is one of about 300 copies of the first issue with the departmental imprint of Further Professional Studies in Education. The committee disliked the design of this first issue and were further annoyed by numerous typographical errors, so another edition was issued in dark blue wrappers. The copyright is described on the title verso as "Seamus Heaney 1984", whereas the second edition confusingly states "Seamus Heaney 1983". Loosely inserted is a departmental compliments slip.
