ANTIPHONARY
Large initial "S" painted in red and blue and filled with intricate calligraphic penwork, 2 smaller initials painted in red or blue, each filled with intricate calligraphic penwork in contrasting colours; 7 four-staves with square musical notation.
Size of leaf: 448 x 330mm. 7 lines of liturgical text in a large rounded gothic hand. 1450
The large initial "S" introduces the introit for the 10th sunday after Pentecost: "Salus populi ego sum . . . " (I am the saviour of the people, saith the Lord: in whatever tribulation they shall cry to Me I will hear them).
A few small holes caused by the oxidisation of the ink, otherwise a generally clean leaf.
