JOACHIM, Joseph (1831-1907). Hungarian Violinist and Composer.

Cabinet Photograph Signed ("Joseph Joachim"), a half-length image showing Joachim seated, his hands resting on the armrests of the chair.

c. 6 1/2 x 4 1/4 ins, identified on the photographer's mount as Berlin, 1899. 


Joseph Joachim, one of the finest violinists of his time, was a close friend of Brahms, who dedicated his only violin concerto to him. He himself wrote pieces for the violin, his best-known composition being the Hungarian Concerto in D Minor.
