Ink stamp of the Intelligence Department, Egyptian Army, dated in the year of publication to the title page. Some highly detailed pencilled notes in the section on "Species and Breeds", with a couple of rather charming illustrative sketches of camels, also a ?near contemporary loose original photograph of a camel inserted.In the Army List of 1895 Leonard is described as a Brevet Major on the Reserve of Officers. He had seen action in the Second Afghan War, actions of Ahmed Khel and Urzoo; the Egyptian Expedition 1882-4; Soudan in 1884, battles of el Teb and Tamai; and on the Nile Expedition of 1884-5, in all these campaigns being involved in Transport Duties.Armorial bookplate of Admiral W.H.
