First edition of Lehmann's second book after Dusty Moment (1927).

First edition. 8vo, original black cloth with original dust jacket. London, Chatto & Windus.

With 4pp Chatto & Windus prospectus for None So Pretty by Margaret Irwin [1930].

Lehmann's second book after Dusty Moment (1927). Set in a grey industrial northern town the protagonist 34 year old Grace Fairfax has a rich internal life in spite of her dreary quotidian existence and unhappy marriage. Dedicated "To Wogan", Wogan Philips, an artist and Lehmann's second husband. Her first marriage to Leslie Runciman had been unhappy; undoubtedly much of the inspiration for the two female protagonists is based on Lehmann's own experience. Enchanting in its truth and melancholy. Fine copy in dust jacket.
