Part of the Milk for Spain fund initiated in November 1937, “the Co-Operative Union sold milk tokens for threepence and sixpence and by December 1938, had collected £23,000” across "426 branches” (Jackson, 2002, British Women and the Spanish Civil War, p. 260).
No copies on OCLC, although another example appeared in Pallant House's exhibition 'Conscience and Conflict: British Artists and The Spanish Civil War' (2014), rubberstamped with ‘London Co-operative, Islington Group, 165, Upper Street’.
A rare ephemeral example of the vast international humanitarian reaction to the Spanish Civil War. In very good condition.
