Engraved plates by George Cruikshank, Phiz, and Hamerton, First edition, second issue, 8vo., original green ribbed cloth, blocked in gilt and blind, uncut, 8 page publisher's catalogue in volume 2, 4 page publisher's catalogue in volume 3, London, Henry Colburn.
The second issue with G.J.Palmer imprint on verso of title page of volume 1, and 'young publisher' on the third line of the introduction. Head and tail of spines a touch worn, spines faded, cover of volume 3 spotted, but overall a good copy. Bookplate of William Clyde Wilkins in volume 1, large engraved pictorial bookplate of Vivian L. Henderson in all three volumes.
