From the library of Richard Murphy, signed by him on the front free endpaper. Bloomfield A1. Signed by the author on the title page and inscribed on the front free endpaper by RM: "This book was in the library of Patricia Avis (author of Playing the Harlot) until she died in 1977, when it passed to her and my daughter Emily, who gave it to me in Durban in 2004. Richard Murphy". With a previous ownership inscription: "Colin Strang 1947".Strang was Patricia Avis's first husband, Richard Murphy her second. Colin and Patricia had moved to Belfast in 1951, when Colin took up a lectureship at Queen's. Larkin was the Sub-Librarian at the time and Patricia and he embarked on an affair during 1952. Covers slightly worn, otherwise a very good copy.
