Published in the same year as the first edition.Marie-Jeanne Leprince de Beaumont (1711-1780) was a prolific writer of moral and instructive tales for children. Her one regression into fairyland was the tale of Beauty and the Beast found in her collection Magasin des enfants, contes moraux (1757).
