First edition of this treatise on phlobotomy or blood-letting in the cure of pleurisy, written by the professor of medicine at Bologna. He was a near contemporary of Vesalius who studied medicine in Padua in 1538 and the two men met in that year and discussed the problems of therapy by venesection. However, their difference in opinion seems to have been the impulse behind Vesalius' next book published in 1538 in which Vesalius advocated the procedure of drawing blood from a site near the location of the ailment, in contrast to the Muslim amd medieval practice of drawing blood from a distant part of the body.Censimento CNCE 13956.
