Second edition of the accounts of the voyages made in 1763 and 1764 to the islands in the south Atlantic, known to the French as Les isles Malouines and to the Spanish as the Islas Malvinas. The author was a Benedictine and librarian of the Royal Library in Berlin, and a member ot the expedition which was led by the explorer De Bougainville. The islands were claimed on behalf of France, but they were ceded to Spain in 1767 with De Bougainville as intermediary. They became know as the Falklands in 1771 when they were ceded by Spain to the British who had been on the islands since 1765 with a force led by Commander Byron.Sabin 60996. Leclerc 1984.
