A friendly letter, asking his corespondent to dine with him on the following Monday, and hoping that there will be no obstacle.Corot's harmonious small landscapes, painted in the open air, are regarded as the forerunners of Impressionism. At the beginning of the last century his paintings were very popular with wealthy Americans, and there are said to be more paintings attributed to him in America than his entire output. His letters are rather rare.
